Bio
Hey, I'm Melanie Hinojosa and I'm a freshman at Kempner High School. I am the the third youngest out of four children. My parents are the best. They've been very supportive of me since day one. My amazing dad has coached me for 3 years now, and I wouldn't be where I'm at today in softball without him. My mom is my hero. She's taught me to be the very best I can be at whatever I do. I'm very thankful to have such loving parents in my life.
When I was 9 years old, I quit competitive cheerleading to pursue my career as a softball player. My sister, Holly, definitely had a big part of why I started playing. Whenever I watched her play, I couldn't help but to think that I wanted to be out there. So I quit cheerleading and joined a league team. I started off batting right handed, but wasn't very good at it. So my dad switched me to the left side where he taught me how to hit, slap, and drag. I now play second base, but I can also play shortstop and outfield. Wherever the team needs me, I'm willing to play.
School is a very important part of my life. I take school very seriously, and work extremely hard to make good grades. I'm a straight A student, and I plan to keep it that way. After High School, I plan to attend a college where I get the opportunity to play softball. As for my studies, I plan on majoring in Biology and becoming a veterinarian.
When I'm not on the field, I'm usually texting, playing Xbox with my little brother, listening to some Beatles, or eating ice cream!
